Course Info

Topwin Golf and Country Club sits in hill to the north of Beijing along The Great Wall of China.  The course was designed by Ian Woosnam – at a rolling 7,261 yards and par-72 with undulating greens and waters hazards it favours good iron players.  Turned into a birdie fest last year with Haotong Li ripping the place up with a 64 on Sunday.

Doc's 5 Best Bets at the Volvo China Open

Ross Fisher 11/1

Just longer odds than my cut off limit of 10/1 but surely a win has to be coming soon for Ross Fisher.  T3 in Shenzhen and T3 at the WGC Mexico with 44 birdies shared between those two starts with a solid Masters in between.  Didn't feature at Topwin last year but wasn't in this kind of form.

Alex Levy 20/1

When he's happy all is well with the world and right now Alex Levy is happy.  On a run of 4th in Malaysia, T34 in Morocco, T8 last week. He's a former winner of the China Open in 2014 at Genzon and was T3 in 2015 at Pudong . In other words stick a few quid on him anywhere in China and he wont disappoint!

Dylan Frittelli  35/1

Frittelli is rapidly getting up to speed with European Tour life and now has four top-20 finishes from his last five starts.  The South African's solid GIR game yielded a T14 in Shenzhen and T8 at the Trophee Hassan before that. He'll need to convert more with the putter this week here but there's no reason the Texas grad cant place each way.

Pablo Larrazabal  28/1

Maybe boosted by Sergio's recent Masters win, Pablo Larrazabal has been showing form with a T13 in Morocco and T11 in Shenzhen last week. Four top-10's from nine starts at the Volvo China Open with a best of T5 in 2013.  When he's in the mood has the putting game to do what Hao-tong Li did here last year.

David Lipsky 25/1

If the Topwin course is suited to anyone, it's David Lipsky.  Putted his way to a solo second in Malaysia early in the season and finished T5 last week on the back of some excellent iron play.  Circled 21 birdies here last year on his way to a T9 finish. Lipsky will have underlined this course as one of the few where he can really cash in this year.
