Nice to have an event on UK soil this week and with Sky Sports giving it the treatment it promises to be a televisual feast! Only problem for us punters is the tournament this year moves to Close House, from The Grove in 2016 and Woburn in 2015. That takes away the horses for courses stat that I like to throw into my equation but there's still plenty to work with predicted amiable odds.
I'm a big Bernd fan and am waiting for him to really kick his career into overdrive. Solo second in this event last year, he comes in off a T9 at the KLM Open where he drove it great, hit a field topping 62 greens in regulation, and putted like guy holding a kango-hammer. Has to be better with the flat stick this week and if he is watch out!

You have to sit up and take notice when a guy misses a slew of cuts then suddenly finds his stride. That's what Hatton did with his T3 last time out at the Omega European Masters with solid irons and putting. On home soil this week and with confidence flowing I think you'll get value for your money here from 33/1.
The form player on Tour right now and I'm delighted for Eddie. On a run of three top fives from the Czech Republic (T5) to Holland (T3) and Portugal (T3) last week where he went -2, -10, -3 on the par 3's, 4's and 5's cumulatively. A word of caution though, Eddie is averaging just 30 fairways found per event in those last three and I suspect the penalty for errant driving might be that much harsher at Close Head in late season. But go on Eddie, you can do this!
Really finding form late in the year is George Coetzee. Tied first in greens in regulation on the Victoria Course last week on his way to 7th to follow up a T3 at the KLM Open. I make that seven top-10's this season for the South African and he knows how to push on when in form.
Agonised over my last pick but I needed one guy that drives it long and straight and manages the course well and that's old Hendo. I was gutted for him losing the playoff in Switzerland; he looked so disappointed. Then my wife pointed out that he always looks disappointed so everything was good again! But back on point and Hend had super stats last time out and likes a lush English layout.
I see three guys at 80/1 that could have an excellent week.
First Victor Dubuisson. This guy is one of the world's best with a driver and irons and undoes it all with the putter. His T12 in Portugal was a masterclass of driving and hitting 59 greens in regulation; then he takes 120 putts! A better putting week and this guy knows how to win.
Ashun Wu also at 80/1 is getting better and better every week. T9 in Switzerland a few weeks back, T7 in Portugal last week and certainly one on my radar.
Lee Slattery made the cut in Portugal but had a torrid week; I can only imagine there were other issues that affected his performance. Before that he was on a run of three top 10's from four starts from Scotland to Portugal. Will thrive in the UK conditions this week.

Rory is at 8/1 this week, very tight odds if you ask me, with Sergio next at 10/1. The win only market is to be avoided pre tournament but if you insist on backing someone on the nose I suggest Alex Noren at 14/1. He defends the title he won at The Grove, won the the BMW Championship earlier this season at Wentworth and was a gritty T6 last time out at the tricky Crans Sur Sierre.Doc's Top 5 Each Way Tips
