Updated Tryout Information - 7/31

Tryouts for the Wakeland golf team will be held on Monday, August 7th at Frisco Lakes golf club.  Due to course maintenance schedules, we will not be holding a second round of tryouts on Tuesday at the Trails.  Because of this, all players should be prepared to play up to 15 holes on Monday evening as part of the tryout process.  We will begin after 4 PM on Monday, so we should be able to get a break from the afternoon heat as we get into the later holes to give everyone a chance to make it a little farther on the course.  If we do in fact need more time to evaluate players, we will look to the week of August 14th in the evenings as the trails will be back open for regular play at that point, but we will do our best to make decisions based on play at the Lakes.

I appreciate all of you that have emailed me requesting to be added to the list for tryouts and I will post tee time information to this website on Wednesday, August 2nd.  Please remember to get your physicals done before coming to the tryout on Monday and drink plenty of water and hydrate your bodies before coming out to the course on Monday.  Begin that process at the beginning of the weekend, not just Monday afternoon.

Again, I will reiterate that for boys to have a good chance to make the team this year, a freshman needs to be able to score around 90 from the White tees and a sophomore should be in the mid 80's pretty consistently.  It looks like there will be plenty of competition for the boys spots on the team, so I want to make everyone aware of what the expectations would be for making the team.  Please let me know if you have any questions at hostint@friscoisd.org and I hope you have a great weekend as we prepare for another season of Wakeland Golf.
