2017 Wells Fargo Championship Betting Preview And Expert Tips

Punters this week don’t have it easy. With Quail Hollow out of commission as it prepares to host the PGA Championship, the Wells Fargo moves to the tough and tricky Eagle Point Golf Club in the city of Wilmington.  It's a place I know pretty well having competed in Ironman in the city last year; I even swam in the Intracoastal Waterway that cuts in along the 10th hole.  The course is a real Tom Fazio classic test and with rough allowed to grow watch out for strokes gained tee to greeners to contend.
And forgive me if I don't deliver a 1,2,3 like last week tips in China.

Doc's Top 5 Best Bets For The Wells Fargo

Jon Rahm 12/1

One man who wont give a damn that it's a new course this week. Every week is a new course to Jon!  And he can handle them all.  Since winning the Farmers the Spaniard has been a model of consistency with four top 20's before a T27 on his Masters debut.  Came close at Pebble (T5) and in Mexico (T3) with a game based on driving and finding greens in the right number.  And he's the type player Fazio designed this course for.

Kevin Kisner 25/1

Cannot be left off your bet sheet right now; he's the Ross Fisher of the PGA Tour, just angling for the win.  Runner up alongside Scott Brown in New Orleans on Monday, T11 before that at The Heritage, T2 at The Arnie and T11 in Mexico.  High on the stroked gained tee to green stats, if Kevin can get the putts to drop on the 12 stimping greens here, he can win.

Webb Simpson 33/1

Streakier than a rasher, I hate tipping Webb but in the Carolinas I'll make an exception.  That T11 at The Heritage should have been much better but for the Sunday 74.  However it marked a massive jump back into form which had been rotten since his second in Phoenix. For one week only Webb grudgingly gets my vote!

Bud Cauley 60/1

If there's a ringer this week in the odds it's Bud.  Shot 61 alongside Justin Thomas in the final round of the Zurich Classic last week and matched his more illustrious partner every step of the way.  In form too off a T10 in San Antonio and T9 at Hilton Head, I really cannot understand how Bud's tee to green excellence of late has him 60/1 in the betting. Get on.

Paul Casey 20/1

Came into The Masters a solid contender and duly contended with a solo sixth. Casey is the type of player that, if he's smiling and happy on the eve of an event, he is going to play well; he's that solid.  16th in strokes gained tee to green and 6th in strokes gained around the green are fantastic but the biggest issue is his 144th in strokes gained putting.   The week Casey puts well is when he wins; the rest of his game is right there.
