In order to tryout for the golf team, each student must have a completed physical. The paperwork can be found at the trainers website, wakelandsportsmedicine@weebly.com. The form can be found under "information for parents and student athletes." If you haven't already turned the physical into the front office, please hold onto the paperwork and bring it with you to the first day of tryouts.
To better prepare you for what to expect on the team this year. I am planning on keeping a total of 25 players. 15 boys and 10 girls. Currently we have 11 boys returning from last year and 5 girls. Those spots aren't guaranteed for returners, but there is a sense of how many are interested in trying out. So the competition will be high to make the golf team for this year. If you haven't been playing in summer tournaments, I would highly suggest that you start so that you can be prepared to play a competitive round at the tryout. For freshmen boys, in order to have a good shot at making the team, I would expect to see scores below 90 in the NTPGA tournaments that you play in.
In order to reserve your spot at the tryout, I will need you to send an email to coach Hostin, hostint@friscoisd.org, with your name, grade, and a list of the tournaments that you have played in this summer. I will need this information prior to August 1st so that I can put together a list of the tee times for Monday the 8th and get that information back out to you in a timely matter.

Tryouts for the Wakeland golf team for the 2016-2017 school year will take place on Monday and Tuesday, August 8 & 9. We will play 9 holes of golf each day. Monday's round will take place at Frisco Lakes golf club, and the Tuesday round will be at The trails of Frisco. Both rounds tee times will start at 1:00 in the afternoon. It will be extremely hot both of these days at tryouts. It is vital for the golfers to be acclimated to the heat before coming those days, so they need to be out practicing and getting used to the temperatures during the day leading up to the tryout.
