The 8th is the shortest hole on the course.  A par 3 with trouble running down the left and a smattering of bunkers guarding the front on right sides of the green.

The hole has two sets of tees.  One set is on the left and makes the green play deep but narrow.  The other set of tees, to the right, changes the angle of the hole and means playing into a wide but shallow green.  We played from the left tees today.

Avoiding the sand is the primary directive on this hole.  The green is very organically shaped and a couple of spots for pins on this green could place a diabolical twist and increase the difficulty dramatically. On this day the pin was centrally located right over the top of the central bunker.

The green has some big undulations so even landing safely on the green does not mean an easy par.


Of course missing the green can make for an even worse time...  My Dad taking an unplayable lie after his ball plugged in the face underneath the collar of vegetation.

I managed to hit a good shot which still trickled away to about 10 feet.  I actually made the putt for my first birdie of the day!
