Updated Tryout information

Tryouts for the Wakeland Golf team for the 2013-2014 year will take place on Monday and Tuesday, August 4th and 5th.  Both days will start at 1:00 in the afternoon.  Again, it will be hot those days so the best thing that you can do now to get ready is to be outside during the afternoons of July so that your body can get used to the heat that you will feel for a couple of hours at tryouts.  Tryouts will run the same as they did last year, with incoming freshmen playing a bit different than the returning players and non freshmen new players.  Every one will need to have their physical taken and medical history form turned in before they can tryout so you will need to have that taken care of and paperwork turned in by August 4th.  You can visit the Wakeland Trainers website to get the updated information on what needs to be turned in.  Their website is http://wakelandsportsmedicine.weebly.com/.  You can find all information needed there.  You can drop off completed paperwork at the school office to place in my box, or you can bring completed physicals to the tryout date on the 4th.

Freshmen:

Freshmen will play 9 holes on Monday, August 4th at the Trails of Frisco golf club.  It will most likely be the front 9 that day but could change based on course conditions.  Freshmen will be playing the white tees.  The course is charging a special rate of just $10 for our freshmen to tryout on 9 holes that afternoon.  On Tuesday, we will play at Frisco Lakes golf club and play the full 18 holes on that day.  Freshmen will either be playing the white or blue tees based on the level of competition that is shown on Monday.

Returning players & non Freshmen:

All returning players and non freshmen will be playing the full 18 holes both days at tryouts for a total of 36 holes of golf over 2 days.  On Monday we will be at the trails and the green fee for play that day is $15.  Please check in at the pro shop and take care of that before heading out to play that day.  You will play the Blue tees at the Trails.  On Tuesday we will play the second round at Frisco Lakes.  You will be playing the gold tees at the Lakes.

All Players:

If you plan to play on the Wakeland Golf team for the 2014-2015 school year, you must participate in the open tryouts.  In order to get a tee time, please email me at hostint@friscoisd.org and I will start to put together tee sheet for order of play.  When you email me, please list any tournaments that you have participated in this summer or that you plan to participate in the future.  The deadline to email me in order to sign up for tryouts is Friday, August 1st.  I will try to have a tee sheet posted to this blog site by Sunday Morning so that you will know when your tee time is as well as who you are playing with.  Good luck to all of you as you prepare for this fall and I look forward to seeing the great golf that we will play this year.
